Just weeks after the massive late-August fire, another major blaze erupted on Tuesday evening, September 23, at a warehouse in Bucharest’s Sector 2, sending a huge cloud of smoke over the city.

Firefighters have been working through the night and into Wednesday, with operations expected to continue for the entire day. Authorities issued multiple Ro-Alert warnings urging residents to stay indoors, keep windows closed, and avoid the affected area. While the risk of explosion was ruled out and no casualties were reported, smoke pollution has spread across several districts.

uRADMonitor, which operates a large number of air quality sensors throughout Bucharest, captured the fluctuations in pollution levels during the incident. The following video shows how air quality changed hour by hour as the fire developed.
