KeymasterA new firmware revision will drop hardcoded device IDs, instead, when a unit is first connected to the internet, it will receive its ID from the server and store it in its EEPROM. When the station owner opens the webportal, the server will match his IP with the new station, and present a registration dialog. This window will appear until the station is fully configured (user details, email, station ID, a Boolean for configuration done, all stored in a DB table). The user will then see his new station (and any other he has) in the station admin panel where more options are available

KeymasterSome very good ideas. The units can be flagged as mobile, for instance the A3 is a fixed unit, yet the first 10 units installed on buses in Cluj Napoca function as mobile units. The busses also provide real time GPS coordinates via separate HTTP Posts. So this would be possible for the KIT1 as well.
Also I’m working on a new frontend, that will show mobile units separately. There there is also a switch to toggle offline units off.
Finally, we’ll slowly move to dynamic IDs, and that implies the need for an expiration time before an unused ID can be re-assigned, taking the unused stations off the map automatically.
Lots of lines of code for all this, but getting there.uRADMonitor
KeymasterThere was an API some time ago, then it was dropped with the new backend implementation, while pending some additional work to have it back. So stay tuned on this, and feel free to ping me from time to time to check status.

Keymaster@Scherheinz sweet setup you got there!
@Keld Norman congrats on the excellent installation, right by the book!

Keymasternice experiment!
160ms 65KV 7.5mA resulting in an accumulated total dose of 0.038uSv? What was the distance from the head to the detector?

Keymaster@Moran, you will need a custom firmware for that. I am working to add this functionality to the open source KIT1 repository on Github. Thanks for your patience.
@Emmanuel_Fuste, the inductor has a ferrite core, which indeed is dependant on the temperature, but I allowed enough tolerance to have optimal functionality below +65degrees celsius. However the inductor you’ve received might be faulty, I’ve seen a few with issues. I definitely agree this needs to be addressed the proper way (as I’m a perfectionist as well). Can you try getting another inductor? Specs are 2.2mH , 0.5W, 0410 Axial Lead DIP inductor.uRADMonitor
KeymasterHello Emmanuel, your assumptions are correct. Normally the frequency of the inverter is set outside of the audible spectrum, but in your case the inductor might behave abnormally and create some harmonics. It is temperature related, as the magnetic permeability of the inductor’s ferrite core changes with temperature. You can almost use the duty cycle parameter to measure temperature.
If the sound is annoying, I can send you a custom firmware version that increases the frequency even further.

KeymasterThanks for the website, it’s great to have people of the sky here!
The coordinates have been changed as per your request!
Thank you

KeymasterHello Painter, welcome!
Your DIY unit looks great. I’ll send you a valid ID and some observations regarding the STS5 tube vs SBM20 via email.
Also, make sure to post your construction on https://www.uradmonitor.com/topic/soldering-the-kit1/ , for a chance to win an A2 unit.uRADMonitor
KeymasterHello Urs,
It’s on the todo list and we’ll have it in place the next few days.

KeymasterIf the unit’s network interface works so you can successfully connect to it via LAN, it might mean that your router blocks the outbound packages. Please check your security settings for that. For the BMP280/BME280, I’d add it in the header, for a more compact form factor.

KeymasterDone! Thank you

KeymasterIf that doesn’t help, I should be able to send you a custom firmware, to pinpoint the problem as the device sees it.

KeymasterHello Ken,
By any chance, is it possible to connect the unit to a different router and/or a different ISP?

KeymasterWow, Jayson, thanks for documenting this, really awesome photos!
