Hi Radu,
In my case it would be modifying an existing Model A3.4, if possible.
As some kind of “in-service” indicator. (thus flashing instead of making the clicking-sound)
Unfortunately the link to the eBay listing is a dead-end as it is too long ago and no history shown, so I can’t see the technical details (impedance, load etc) of that piezo buzzer.
Being new to all of this, I found the information shared very useful.
Especially about the Passive Power Injector, really appreciated!
As sharing=caring;
I also got some inspiration about the mounting & placement of the uRADMonitor model A, looking at what other members have been using so far.
Allow me to share my installation, inside a Davis Instruments box.
@mpaulauskas were you able to resolve this issue? I’m having the same experience with a Model A 3.4
, which has worked fine connected to an 8-port switch module in a Cisco 1941W for five years but doesn’t work on a 2960S. I have an A3
(wired) at work, which works on a 2960-X (with about 25m of structured cable) and also a 6509 (1m patch lead).
The interface comes up for ~15 seconds and then goes down and, as you observed, no MAC address appears in the CAM table. The Ethernet controller in the A
seems to lock up at that point, since leaving it powered and connecting it back to the 1941 results in the interface still not coming up. Power-cycling the A
returns it to normal operation.
Interestingly, if the A
is booted whilst connected to the 1941 and I re-patch it to the 2960S it works fine. Booting it whilst not connected to anything results in a locked-up Ethernet controller after ~15 seconds, which requires power-cycling to rectify.
The A
is the only thing left connected to the 1941, which is being retired since I have a new firewall, it’s old, doesn’t have enough ports, and also no longer need the ADSL capability. I have a wireless A3
at home, as well, so I may just end up retiring the Model A
.
Hi Radu,
I’ve connected the unit to a PC using the usb cable and nothing happens – I can’t see any lights switch on inside, the unit makes no noise, the A3 isn’t auto detected by the PC and the the unit’s WiFi signal isn’t detect either (by any other device).
Given the above I shall return it to you.
Would it be possible to change the unit to a rj45 model as I may need to move its location to somewhere with limited WiFi coverage?
Thanks again for your help
Hi Adam,
Since it has happended before: be sure to check the wall wart, they like to fail. These are standard 5V PSU models, just try your A3 with a standard USB PSU for phones or tablets you may have lying around.
The modules themselves are pretty reliable.
Cheers,
Wolferl
Hi Radu,
I hope you are well during these difficult times.
Did you receive my email a few weeks ago re the Model 3A which has problems powering on and the Wifi signal cannot be detected?
I’d obviously like it to be repaired.
Many thanks
What is the format of the Model D’s OFFLINE.TXT file. I want to parse it down.
Is there some algorithm that has the Model D not produce CSV files after some point of being left on and only add to the OFFLINE.TXT file?
Thanks.

I just found this…Just in time!
I found your products through Hackaday.io and it says that the A3 has Gamma radiation detection. (Which is what I want.)
Whew, I almost ordered it by mistake! A very expensive mistake! I’ll look at the model A. The rest, I already have the parts to make.
Thank you!

Hi, bought the uRADMonitor A3 (Wifi model) and just got it today. Was setting it up, but could not see the SSID in the pattern “uRADMonitor-**”
Well I actually saw it for a split second, but it disappeared right after and i have not been able to see it since. Is there any way to reset the A3 or is unplug/plug the only thing I can do? I actually have been doing the unplug + plug for about 30 min now. Still can’t find the SSID.
Would appreciate any help!
Hi all,
I’m Sean from Dresden in Germany, I am British but have lived here for 28 years.
I am a machine Technician and work for a start-up company called Heliatek. http://www.heliatek.com “The Future is Light”
The company produces solar cell modules made with organic materials.
My machine is an R&D machine, there is only one ever made !
I’m running the Industrial model: 14000089
It would be great to hear from you !
Cheers Sean
I have an old Model A (11000103). I’d like to follow the directions in the paper “uRADMonitor Decentralized Direct Data Access” to set a “New End Point”. Alternatively, I’d like to just disable the watchdog so that I can use the unit without full internet connectivity.
There isn’t a USB jack on my unit. Is there a header inside the unit that I can use to get serial access? Do you have a pinout of this header?
Thanks.
Hi there,
It would help if you tell us the sensor model and unit ID…
Cheers,
Wolferl
Any chance of somebody modelling STL file for 3d printing for this newest type of PCB currently available on github?
Hi today, my uRADMonitor model A3 started beeping, anybody an idea why this is happening?
I had to switch it off.
Thanks
