I think the current marker color is fine, you also want to see some background spectrum resolution as is the case currently.
If everything remained green all the time (unless hazard red) then you going to possibly miss the leading trends. Also fine resolution could also give you a clue somethings up if the levels are not matching what would normally be considered normal for the environment.
