Looks great! I love the mounting and protective cage.

If the readings are correct from the device, I would attribute it to their coal plants with little to no emissions control. Naturally occurring uranium and thorium concentrated in the coal can vary by the region it was mined from. I know the US does sell coal to China, and very low grade coal at that. Being in close proximity to the fly ash can increase your dose accumulation around 5% above normal background dose. (percentage referenced from USGS survey studies in the US). I know there’s also several places that use trituium in China for glow in the dark applications on gun sights, watches, etc. Any effluent from a factory with low emissions controls could drive up the readings on the uRADMonitor.

It may not be radon in the air, which most radon tests look for. It could be decays that are being picked up from the concrete or whatever your basement wall/floor is made out of. Go ahead and do a test where you put it on a granite counter top.. you’ll see similar readings. Depending on the surface you have it mounted to or set on top of, you could be picking up decay counts from that.

Just an idea, we could possibly use IFTTT. (If This Then That)
    https://ifttt.com/

It is a site/app that you join and setup trigger based events. There are dozens/hundreds of applications currently supported and they have the ability for you to code custom devices and events. So you could potentially setup a rule that says.. (If monitor has no response > 5hr) then (send text/tweet to this account/phone). The good thing is, we don’t have to have any firmware updates or revisions to the existing device.

Hi, I decided to join the uRADMonitor network. I have a unit being shipped right now.

I currently work in a 1198MWe BWR nuclear power plant as a systems engineer. Surprisingly, one of the systems I am the engineer for is process radiation monitors / area radiation monitors. I am also a member of the emergency response team where I am a dose assessor.

I have been following the uRADMonitor project since it was first introduced. I feel that it was appropriate to join since I do things like this as my profession. By degree, I am a computer engineer, which is why I am excited about this project. It combines both of my interests in one device.

I look forward to setting up my radiation monitor and contributing help to the community.
