ParticipantI’m pleased to report that on Firmware version 111, my unit now correctly obtains an IP address from Windows DHCP servers.

ParticipantThanks for that.
I’m not too sure. I’m so out of touch with that sort of thing (I last used MRTG graphs). Suggestions are welcome on how to integrate with Cacti or MRTG ?

ParticipantIt won’t be counting Alpha rays at all since the Aluminium casing of the unit will block all of that. A large amount of Beta will also be blocked by the case and as I understand the Muller Tube is less sensitive to that type of radiation anyway.
What you’re mainly/only detecting is Gamma.

ParticipantYes, I’m talking about an external watchdog timer (sorry, I’m not an Electronics Engineer). I realise it would be difficult (and rather pointless) to spin a new board right now, but for future revisions if you decide to take this project further, maybe it could be a valuable addition? I’m sure they add very little cost overall.

ParticipantRadu,
Sure, that’s all well and good to reboot if the network doesn’t respond etc… but what if the internal firmware itself isn’t responding (and thus unable to check the network).
The problem that I appear to be having (and this is just my best guess, I haven’t done any measurements) is that when voltage dips beyond a certain point (but still above 0 volts) the entire thing locks up and won’t recover without manual intervention. You can’t even ping the network interface.

ParticipantRadu,
I don’t have the tools capable of writing new firmware to the device.
Once you’re satisfied that it’s stable, is it possible to have the unit sent back to you to be updated?
Or is there anyone in Australia who might be able to assist?

ParticipantI’m getting the same issue it seems.
I’m running a Windows 2003 DHCP server. Nothing special. I can see the MAC address hitting the switch and successfully negotiating a link but that’s where it stops.
However it works if I use the DHCP server built into pfSense (my router/firewall).
Any ideas?
