ModeratorWhen my unit shows offline it’s usually due to a power outage. When the power comes back on I reboot the router and then turn off the power source to the unit and turn it back on, within a short time it shows online again. If you have tried that with no success, let us know.

ModeratorJust as knowledge of Morse Code died out… thanks for sharing your call to arms with like-minded tech information folks! And, FYI, there’s a small group of us collecting and sharing information about nuclear at http://www.caferadlab.com – publicly accessible and I publish daily a nuclear news paper at https://paper.li/Cecalli_Helper/1494769642#/ – in the archives (and in the future) you’ll find links to articles by our great radiation tech writer, Radu, at both sites.

ModeratorI need to clarify something – your original post you said you were concerned about the Noise option and I had forgotten there was a new “noise pollution” option, which is why I went on about the VOC. I thought maybe you meant the VOC, so, my apologies for my confusion. I’ve asked Radu in facebook about the sensor for the noise pollution monitor.
SaltoUYStation
ModeratorHi Jan-Peter,
I have the Model A and it does not have the VOC (Volatile Organic Compound: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volatile_organic_compound) option, but other models do (shown in colorful circles on the map in screen shot below). My take is that while some of us do not have all the available sensors, the map choices reflect all of them so we can all see the data of those who do have multiple sensors in their units.

ModeratorThank you for the prompt fix and for posting your newest article in the blog! https://www.uradmonitor.com/blog/

ModeratorI second that notion, Samuel. And, I think Radu would be open to a new forum for observers to report (any incident, anywhere), it could be called Alerts or Events or Notices or… In the meantime, I’m an administrator at http://www.caferadlab.com and I try to keep the “events” notices current there, based on what I find through my nuclear news searches for my tweets at https://twitter.com/Cecalli_Helper. As soon as I learned about the new Hanford crisis today, I posted news sources, see: http://caferadlab.com/thread-1975-post-3840.html#pid3840 – I have issues with my hands and typing, so, I can’t keep up on all the news and I usually “quit” mid-day Uruguay time… so, it’d be great to have uradmonitors jump in with local findings when spikes or unusual events occur in their region.
And, maybe, hoping, Radu can “gift” some more units to people living near critical sites… for example, I’d love to have a uradmonitor or three near the Argentina & Brasil nukes. And, of course, units around Chernobyl would be awesome.
I’ll even offer my talent in networking for funds to help Radu gift units to critical areas.

ModeratorMy Model A data has attracted the attention of meteorologists in Uruguay at facebook in Informe Climatico https://www.facebook.com/groups/995917510506913/permalink/1338103819621612/ – they requested a “primer” on what your detectors do, so there’s a thread and a file for educational purposes. I requested to add you, Radu, to the group. I also explained the different air quality tech you produce. Maybe you’ll be receiving product requests from Uruguayos in the future.

ModeratorAwesome guidance, thanks!… wait… not seeing the download function only see the script… perhaps Radu ought try running it first…

ModeratorI’m not well versed in plug-in applications – I’m lost as to how to locate the correct plug-in and what to do once I find it. I downloaded and am running bitbar, but….

ModeratorAdding to the conversation on solar radiation and how it impacts radiation detection technology and data:
Strong Solar Storms Possible, Cool Space News | S0 News Apr.24.2017 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVS1-xhpPgQ
Another rise in solar winds expected today. Two spikes already on my system today (early).
…
13:47 update: local time new spike evidenced – pretty sure it’s a solar storm artifact.

ModeratorAwesome! Thanks so much. More information is always good.

ModeratorHere’s another relatively significant spike (no fire this time, been sleeping). 24 April about 01:10 am local time. The CPM in the downloaded data shows a jump to 80 at 4:12am UTC (1:12amocal).20 cpm before and 17 cpm after with no other spikes recorded. The GOES xray flux does show increased solar activity at what appears to be at about that time. http://spaceweathernews.com/

ModeratorToday, I was cooking outside (because I don’t have a kitchen) and I used some questionable wood on the fire during the time this spike occurred. The wood had been treated with a varnish. I know, I should never burn that wood, especially for cooking. It was all I had. The point is – I (the treated wood) may very well have caused this 1.76 spike.

ModeratorI actually wondered if that was the case… thanks for making those changes and explaining!

ModeratorMy status is showing now, but says I’m offline, prolly because I did unplug the unit earlier. Will reboot…. All good now!
