KeymasterThat’s a good approach, however I’m not sure on how often the monitoring site calls the API.
If too often, it might trigger the DoS protection and get ignored (interpreted as a sigh of deliberate server resources consumption).EDIT: Indeed if there is no recent data, the JSOn answer will show an empty array (no matches).

ParticipantI noticed only after a few weeks that my uradmonitor was no longer able to send data, due to a problem with its network connection.
Just got me device today, already seeing this problem 3 times within as many hours. Link just drops requiring a hard reset of the device. For this price point this is very disappointing.

KeymasterHello Ken,
The model A has a watchdog mechanism: if the network connection drops, it will reboot automatically after 10 minutes. This was added in the newer firmware versions, and your unit has it.
I’d need more details to know what goes wrong with your setup, and a first thing you could test is connecting the unit to a different internet router. Then is changing the power adapter with another one. We’d need this two ruled out before anything else.
L.EDIT: I see it up and running: https://www.uradmonitor.com/?open=110000E7

Participantyes its up and running now, I have moved it between 2 different switches and experienced the same drop, both link lights go completely out as well as the link light on the switch. I will try a new power supply but suspect the cable that was shipped with it, its rather flimsy and has a knick in it, perhaps its faulty or damaged.
I’ll report back if it occurs again.

KeymasterThanks for the update!

ParticipantI am not thinking the watchdog is working. It has dropped out several times over the past few weeks and I have to hard boot it to get it to come back. Currently offline again.
Is there a way to update the frmware? I know you said mine already has it, however it does not appear to be functioning as you described.

KeymasterHello Ken,
By any chance, is it possible to connect the unit to a different router and/or a different ISP?
July 3, 2016 at 5:55 pm #3121Ken Scott
ParticipantTo answer your questions
its been on 3 different routers all with the same behavior.
Different ISP – no cant do that. I can tell you its a rock solid connection though.I am pretty sure its the unit itself as the link lights go dead and do not light up until its hard booted. Once that happens it is fine.
I have just installed a new cable run with POE to it. we’ll see how this goes. at the very least I’ll be able to power cycle from my office.

KeymasterIf that doesn’t help, I should be able to send you a custom firmware, to pinpoint the problem as the device sees it.
