When I first installed the unit it stopped working several times. This I thought was due to the power supply, which when tested, dropped to less than 2.5 volts with a 100 milliamp load. I replaced the supplied power supply with a high quality, tightly regulated, commercial 5 volt supply.
This appeared to resolve the problem for a while. Over the winter there was only two or three times it failed.
Now that the weather is getting warmer it appears to be failing again. Power is being supplied correctly, but the unit will “go dark”. That is, the network connection LED’s will both be off and the unit shows out of service on the map.
I have tried three different network hubs as well.
I should also mention that my unit is out of direct sunlight, and very well protected from rain and snow.
I have also noticed that it appears 25% of the units in the US, and about 20% of the ones in Europe are off line.
While a few of these could be simply persons who have lost interest, 25% is a very high number to be off line.
Have you been documenting failures? Is there a common root cause?
    Thanks,
    Vern

    Hello Vern,

I see there was a downtime on April 23 and 24, but your unit’s transmission has been since uninterrupted. What was the problem?

Unfortunately the offline units are being disconnected due to various reasons, and I say “unfortunately” because that’s harder to fix than a technical problem.

There have been only a few failures so far (4-5 units), some related to the power supply (not affecting the unit), some to an inductor inside (needing replacement) and some to failing geiger tubes (again needing replacement).

Overall these units have proven to be highly resistant, and you should have no issues with your either. https://www.uradmonitor.com/?open=110000D0
