For now, just a few ideas:
    – wordpress might pose security risks . Some have indicated something like F3 might be a better choice (http://fatfreeframework.com/home).
    – there should be a few categories accessible from the main page: a landing page, the map page, the blog page, joining the network/getting units page , API page (current get a badge), and forum.
    – the new website should improve charting mechanism: instead of generating PNGs on the server, there should be sent compressed raw-data to the user (browser, ajax, json) and nice interactive images should be generated in users browser only. This would allow zoom, time interval selection, parameter (cpm, usvh, temperature, etc). This is partly done as we speak (see attached). More appealing charts should be implemented like http://d3js.org/ http://code.shutterstock.com/rickshaw/
    – the station owners should be able to administer their stations. This includes a control panel, where they can setup the coordinates manually (to override current geo-ip localisation) and setting up email alerts/notifications for various radiation thresholds.
    – there should be a forum, that can allow people to discuss ideas. The forum should support categories, subcategories and permissions, including private sections for sensitive discussions
    – there should be a blog to post updates and news
    – the user database should be common among forum, blog (for comments) and station administration panel.
    – the landing page should show a full width chart, with real time data from all stations in the network (we do a DB query for the last 10minutes of data, and from that we simply show values like they just arrived) – this would be animated and should give an idea to all users of the real time data flow. The landing page should explain what this network is, contain a few disclaimers, TOS, privacy terms, etc. . There should also be a section to present the uradmonitor model A with a gallery and technical details. I also like the video backgrounds used by some sites (ex. http://www.paypal.com)
