Hey, my model A is inside at the moment; it is beeping quite often. Is this normal?

Is it simply a beep every CPM?

Hi @arnljot, how is the unit now?

I see it has a high uptime, so no recent resets, Uptime: 166741s

Unit set to mute, however you might need to do a firmware update too. First, let me know if the beeps stopped or not.

Just plugged the unit back in after having it powered down for a while; Beeps like a….. Anyways: The post I found about the firmware upgrade procedure was WAY to advanced for me. I understand that most people that purchase these kind of devices are very tech-savvy. Im not however. If the procedure I found about the upgrade is the one that is supposed to be used: well then I guess it´s in direct conflict with any goal about spreading these kind of devices to the masses: You know people like me, accustomed to pressing “upgrade” in an easy app of sorts 😀 Anyways, I digress. I just saw that the unit does not show up on map or Bitbar anymore..

And just now as I was composing this text the unit stopped beeping! I guess the question now is: What is the beep supposed to mean?

How many beeps do you hear? Each sequence represents something else. The good news is newer units have a USB port that amongst other features will offer the “one click to upgrade” feature. But everything takes time.
