    Hi Matthias,

To prevent reboots, try to provide a stronger Wifi signal for the unit to connect to.

The default hotspot is left on intentionally, so you can re-configure it anytime you need. But I get your point. Two fixes here:
    – on newer firmware, the configuration screen doesn’t show the password in clear text
    – on a firmware variant you can choose an option to disable the internal hotspot, a few seconds after reboot. So it gives you the chance to reconfigure it when needed, then the hotspot is turn off.

Both would require a firmware update. Not complicated at all. Interested in going this route?

    Hi Radu,

    thanks for your reply.

In regards to the wifi, so whenever the wifi signal is lost the device reboots, didn’t know that?
Anyway, I believe the wifi signal is quite stable since the access point is roughly 5m away from the device, which sits on my balcony and there is “only” a window in between.
Maybe I can tweak the antenna a bit, my access point reports currently towards the device values for signal: -65dBm, noise: -95dBm, SNR: 30.

In regards to firmware, sure, what do I need to do to update it? Is there a changelog somewhere about what else has changed?

    Hi Radu,

I ordered an USBasp programmer and it finally arrived and I would like to try and update the firmware. Can you provide me with the firmware you mention above with the two fixes:
    – on newer firmware, the configuration screen doesn’t show the password in clear text
    – on a firmware variant you can choose an option to disable the internal hotspot, a few seconds after reboot. So it gives you the chance to reconfigure it when needed, then the hotspot is turn off.

    My device is 82000095.

    Thanks

    Matthias

    Hello Matthias,

For requirement 2) , how many seconds do you need to have it on before it will turn off automatically? 60sec would do?

    Hi Radu,

yes, I think 60 seconds should be long enough.
