If the readings are correct from the device, I would attribute it to their coal plants with little to no emissions control. Naturally occurring uranium and thorium concentrated in the coal can vary by the region it was mined from. I know the US does sell coal to China, and very low grade coal at that. Being in close proximity to the fly ash can increase your dose accumulation around 5% above normal background dose. (percentage referenced from USGS survey studies in the US). I know there’s also several places that use trituium in China for glow in the dark applications on gun sights, watches, etc. Any effluent from a factory with low emissions controls could drive up the readings on the uRADMonitor.
